Mike and Amy are hardworking, dedicated parents to their two children Nolan (8) and Emma (6). In the fall of 2023 Amy was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma, a cancer that is treatable but currently has no cure. Over the last 6 months, the Hooksteads have battled the insurance company for life saving procedures including immunotherapy, chemotherapy, Y90 internal radiation therapy and possible treatment in Minnesota at the Mayo Clinic.
While this was happening, Amy and Mike have continued to keep the family going as normal as possible. Amy has continued to work as the Treasurer for the town of Randall, taking on side jobs doing taxes all while taking Emma to cheerleading and gymnastics. Mike works for the Whitewater Unified School District as a Special Education Paraprofessional and as the Head Boys Baseball coach. He has not missed a single treatment day or procedure. WWUSD has been very supportive. In addition to this, Mike works on the family farm raising beef cattle with his parents, is the Head of the Whitewater Youth Traveling Baseball program 4th - 8th grade, and coaches for GRB in summer all while making sure Nolan has fun on the farm and plays summer baseball in Genoa City.
The Hooksteads are very humbled and proud to be the recipients as the 2024 Kade's Klassic family.
